The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
