The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
