The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
