The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
