The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
