The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
