The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
