The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
