The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and extended shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
