The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
