The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
