The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
