The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
