The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
