The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
