The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
