The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
