The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
