The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
