The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
