The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
