The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
