The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
