The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right hand; 38
