The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
