The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
