The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
