The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
