The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
