The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
