The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
