The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those of the right hand. 38
