The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
