The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
