The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
