The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
