The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
