The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
