The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
