The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
