The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
