The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
