The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
