The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
