The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for those on the Right, 38
