The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
