The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
