The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
