The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
