The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
